The Long Creek Restoration
Project is a collaborative, community-based initiative convened by the City of
South Portland and led by a Steering Committee made up of representatives from
the four Long Creek watershed municipalities (South Portland, Portland,
Westbrook and Scarborough), area businesses, non-profit organizations, and state
agencies. The City of South Portland obtained a grant from EPA and DEP to
partner with the other watershed municipalities and individual stakeholders in
this effort.

The
Merit Awards were presented at a special ceremony held at Faneuil Hall
in Boston on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. The 2009 ceremony was a
celebration of environmental achievement in New England.
