Pavement Sweeping is Underway for 2025
The District’s pavement sweeping contractor, Maritime Farms and Land Management, LLC, will begin sweeping of roadways and parking lots this week. We understand that landowners would like sweeping to occur as soon as possible after snow melt, however, the contractor sweeps a total of 300 acres so please be patient. Sweeping will begin on smaller properties to allow more time for snow dumps to melt on larger parcels.
As a reminder, please help us prepare for sweeping by asking your winter maintenance personnel to check that snow dumps are reasonably free of large debris, examples include concrete curbing, broken asphalt, and general refuse. Cleaning up large debris can take an excessive amount of time for our contractor, resulting in delays and potentially impacting other Participating Landowners receiving their spring sweep in a timely manner.
The contractor will work overnight or early in the day if needed to minimize interference with tenants, customers, patients, and visitors.
The sweeping program removes small particulate, sand, salt, grit, trash, and other debris from paved areas to keep these pollutants from washing into Long Creek. This is an important part of the pollution prevention activities that the District manages to maintain and improve the water quality of the creek!
